Barcelona

Barcelona Gastronomic Walking Tour

Two of the city's working food markets, three pintxos, and a proper lunch to finish

Food & Wine

Why We Love it

Anyone who has walked into La Boqueria and had no idea where to start should book this one — the guide knows which stalls are worth your time.

Spellbound Images & Cut Outs - 36 copy.

The Experience

Four hours on foot with a guide, starting at noon beside the fountain in Plaça Reial and heading down the Ramblas to La Boqueria, the market locals go to for produce and everything else.

Then a traditional bar for three pintxos, the northern Spanish take on tapas, and a pause. On to Santa Caterina Market, worth the stop for the building as much as the stalls, with your guide filling in how it came to look the way it does. Lunch is the last thing you do: regional dishes and wine at a local restaurant.

My pick for solo travellers and couples who want the city's food explained by someone who knows it, and for anyone who has walked into La Boqueria and had no idea where to start.
