Naples

Naples & Sorrento

A morning on the Sorrento cliffs and an afternoon in the Naples old town, no ruins on the itinerary

Sightseeing

Why We Love it

You get the bay from Villa Comunale Park in the morning and one of the great Greco-Roman collections after lunch, with time to sit still in between.

Spellbound Images & Cut Outs - 36 copy.

The Experience

Nine hours that starts on the coast and ends in the city. Sorrento first: Piazza Tasso, the artisan boutiques and their limoncello, the bay from Villa Comunale Park, and Sedil Dominova, with time to sit somewhere before moving on.

Then Naples itself — Piazza del Plebiscito, the exterior of Teatro di San Carlo, the National Archaeological Museum and its Greco-Roman collection, and Spaccanapoli, the straight line that splits the old centre in two.

My pick for travelers who have already done Pompeii, and for anyone who wants a day of towns and streets rather than sites and tickets.
