The Experience

Positano first, and the Piazza dei Mulini at its center. The road from there down to the water winds, and turns into flights of stairs in places. There are ceramics shops worth the detour, and the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with its bell tower and majolica-tiled dome.
Then the climb to Ravello on a narrow road past wineries and olive mills, set on the cliff above Amalfi and Minori, for the gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. Back down to Amalfi to finish, and the Piazza del Duomo under the Cathedral of St. Andrew, which wears several decorative styles at once. The lanes off the square are where the cafes are, and the shops selling limoncello and ceramics.
