Rarotonga
The Cross-Island Trek
Rarotonga's classic hike — coast to coast across the island, up to the Needle and down to a waterfall you can swim under, with a guide, lunch and hotel pickup.
Adventure
Why We Love it
You climb to Te Rua Manga — the Needle — in the island's green interior, then drop down the far side to a waterfall pool, the reward for the ridge.

The Experience
Three to four hours straight across Rarotonga, from Avatiu valley on the north coast to Papua on the south. The climb goes up through rainforest to Te Rua Manga — the Needle — the volcanic spire at the island's heart, with fixed chains for the last scramble if you want it. Then down the far side, stream crossings and all, to the Papua Waterfall, where you swim before lunch. A guide reads the forest as you go; tropical fruit, lunch and hotel pickup are handled. It's the island's rite-of-passage walk, and the view from the top is why.
