In the 1950s Il Borro passed to Duke Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta, and in 1993 it was bought by Ferruccio Ferragamo, who with his son Salvatore restored the war-scarred estate. Today it is a widespread luxury hotel set in a perfectly preserved 1,000-year-old medieval village near Arezzo: 38 suites designed by Mr. Ferragamo along cobblestone streets, plus countryside farmhouses and private villas such as Villa Il Borro, Villa Casetta and Villa Mulino. The estate includes an organic winery and olive groves, a spa, and the AIE del Borro countryside area (added in 2020) with its own cafe, pool and accommodations.
